Assignment 5 – Personal project – My Father

Below is a link to the document I created combining images and text, this work has been heavily influenced by Philip Toledano’s Day with My Father. Also posted are the single images without text. In dicussion with my tutor, they felt the work was compromised, there being too much text and the images being too small. Their suggetion was to think again about the presentation and to try and add some more detail images. Continue reading Assignment 5 – Personal project – My Father

Assignment 5 -Re-worked submission – My Father

Taking on board comments from my tutor I have decided to present my submission for this assignment as a short video. My original idea for presenting the images was influenced by the work of Philip Toledano and my tutor felt that the images were overshadowed by text and were not large enough. I think that the video has enabled me to address these points. This is my first attempt at producing a video and although it is very basic, I feel it is more engaging than a presentation or PDF of individual images. Background The series is only the start … Continue reading Assignment 5 -Re-worked submission – My Father

Assignment 5 – Original submission – Fuel crisis – images

My aim when I decided to change from my original theme was to try and create a series of images that told the story of an event as it was happening. The event that presented itself was the fuel shortage, variously caused by the lack of HGV drivers, the media or plotting anti-brexiters. The second challenge … Continue reading Assignment 5 – Original submission – Fuel crisis – images

Assignment 5 – change of direction

After spending several weeks doing very little towards the assignment I decided that I was not engaged with the subject I had originally thought of and needed to come up with a different story to photograph. Thinking about why I found it difficult to progress with my original idea, I realised that I was not clear about the story that I was trying to tell. My original idea had been to look at the issue of old people living on their own, however, as I started taking photographs of my father I realised that the work was becoming more of … Continue reading Assignment 5 – change of direction

Assignment 5 – work in progress

I am not altogether sure where I am going with this assignment. I am torn between creating a series about my father, something along the lines of For every minute you are angry you lose sixty second so happiness and The Day-to-Day Life of Albert Hastings, or to create a series including images of my mother-in-law, who has just turned 91. To date I have only photographed my father and some of the images are shown below. Continue reading Assignment 5 – work in progress
